Ga tau dah judulnya bener atau ga, cuma kedengeran bagus aja

Jadi begini, sabtu kemarin petugas dari NetZAP datang ke rumah untuk cek sinyal dan instalasi perangkat. Setelah dipastikan sinyal cukup bagus, ga perlu nunggu lama untuk mendapatkan username dan password untuk segera mengarungi internet.

FYI, NetZAP ini adalah provider untuk wireless broadband access. Kalau ga salah, izin postel mereka menggunakan frekuensi 2.5 GHz. Karena wireless makanya yang perlu dilakukan cuma cek sinyal tadi.

Kenalan sama si NetZAP sewaktu sedang luntang lantung sendirian di acara "Festival Komputer Indonesia" di JCC beberapa waktu yang lalu. Tertarik dengan penawaran unlimited yang seharga Rp. 275 ribu untuk kecepatan 512 kbps. Lumayan murahlah dibanding paket unlimited Speedy yang Rp. 750 ribu. Emang sih ada yang lebih murah, Telkomsel Flash unlimited, cuma Rp. 125 ribu untuk unlimited, Tapi setelah pemakaian 3 GB, kecepatan yang seharusnya bisa mencapai 3.6 Mbps (CMIIW), bakal dipangkas sampai 64 kbps. Nangis dah pake kecepatan segitu Udah gitu cuma untuk pelanggan Kartu Halo, males lagi ngurusnya. FirstMedia? Belum masuk ke sini, bung. Kalau ada sih, mending pake itu

Si NetZAP ini skemanya emang mirip Telkomsel Flash, ada pembatasan kecepatan setelah jumlah akses tertentu: 384 kbps setelah pemakaian 5 GB. Tentunya jauh lebih enak dari si Telkomsel Flash. Tambah lagi syaratnya yang ga ribet, cuma perlu photocopy KTP plus uang deposit modem Rp. 500 ribu, sama tentunya penerimaan sinyal yang cukup bagus.

Anyway, ini hasil pengetesan di situs speedtest.net.

Lumayanlah. Yah, mudah-mudahan ga cuma bagus di awal tapi seterusnya.

Next stop: bagaimana caranya nge-share koneksi internet ini tanpa menggunakan wireless switch (atau router) ? Jadi maksudnya kayak skema begini.

Since GSM technology phase 1 was published on around 1990, and then continued to phase 2 (HSCSD, GPRS, and EDGE), data rate evolution was achieved by enhancing coding scheme, introducing new network elements and protocols.

By now, data rate are even more increased with implementation of packet switch network. Bridge to this evolution were GPRS, with new packet switch network element and protocols introduced.

As we all well-aware with, the so-called HSDPA, HSUPA and another High Speed technology just one step away from our front door, waiting to show us the meaning of “speed”.

The world indeed are evolving ..

Rasanya kurang afdhol kalo belum ikut-ikutan bahas Euro 2008. Sejak kegagalan Inggris mendapatkan tiket ke putaran final Euro tahun ini, saya mulai menjagokan Belanda. Mungkin karena masih ada bekas-bekas jajahan mereka selama tiga setengah abad itu kali ya? Tapi tenang aja, kalo Indonesia lolos Euro 4 tahun lagi, saya akan tetap bela merah putih!

Setelah berlangsung 12 hari dari tanggal 7 Juni kemarin, akhirnya tersaring 8 negara yang berhak maju ke babak berikutnya. Portugal lawan Jerman, Kroasia versus Turki, Belanda kontra Rusia, dan Spanyol berhadapan dengan Italia. Praktis para juara grup (Portugal, Kroasia, Belanda, dan Spanyol) punya kans lebih besar untuk maju ke babak semifinal karena di laga terakhirnya di putaran kualifikasi grup mereka menyimpan amunisinya dan hanya memainkan “tim cadangan”.

Jerman akan menghadapi Portugal tanpa didampingi pelatihnya (akibat skorsing setelah mendapat kartu merah di laga terakhir) ditambah lagi waktu istirahat yang lebih sedikit daripada yang didapat Portugal adalah faktor mengapa Portugal lebih saya unggulkan. Kroasia lawan Turki, dengan menyandang status sebagai juara grup yang sempurna (3 kali main 3 kali menang) rasanya tidak salah kalau Kroasia akan dapat mengatasi Turki. Di samping Turki yang akan bermain tanpa kiper utamanya akibat skorsing.

Belanda melawan Rusia. Ini yang menarik, di mana profesionalisme dan nasionalisme seorang pelatih dipertaruhkan. Serba susah. Guus Hiddink yang notabene orang Belanda, dibayar Rusia untuk mengalahkan negerinya. Pasti headache seven around lah dia. Kalo Rusia menang, dia bisa jadi “enemy of the State”-nya Belanda. Tapi kalo Rusia kalah, bisa jadi dia dianggap tidak profesional. Melihat penampilan Rusia pagi ini, tampaknya Belanda akan menghadapi hadangan yang cukup berat. Lebih berat daripada menghadapi Perancis ataupun Italia. Bukan meremehkan Perancis, tapi Perancis tanpa Zidane bagaikan ayam jantan yang berubah jadi ayam sayur.

Kalau Italia, saya memang tidak suka semenjak tragedi tandukan Zidane yang membuat Italia jadi juara Piala Dunia kemarin. Licik. Mungkin Italia tahu mereka tidak bisa menang dari Perancis selama masih ada Zidane di sana, jadilah si Materazzi memulai provokasinya dengan mengejek-ejek keluarga Zidane. Wajar Zidane marah. Dan pertandingan saat itu pun berlanjut dengan tidak serunya…

Pertandingan perempatfinal terakhir akan dilakoni Spanyol dan Italia. Bersyukurlah karena Italia akan compang-camping ketika bertemu Spanyol. Tanpa Pirlo dan Gattuso. Semoga Spanyol bisa mencontoh Belanda dengan mempermalukan Italia semalu-malunya.

Namanya juga prediksi, bisa salah bisa benar. The rest are, Portugal bisa melaju ke final, begitu juga dengan Belanda. Dan Van Der Sar pun akan mengenang tahun ini sebagai tahun terindah dalam karirnya…

Aroma liburan sudah merebak… tapi masih ada satu tugas lagi… hmmm… malasnya…

The Volvo Ocean Race, the world’s most grueling offshore yacht race, is held from October 2008 to June 2009.
